Orangetheory seemed great, in theory, but you’ve had a chance to try it out and decided it’s not the best fit for you. Not everyone gels with Orangetheory’s high-octane, data-centric approach to class-based fitness. Although the classes are very popular, you may prefer other options. The good news is that it’s easy to cancel your membership.
There is no cancellation fee when you cancel Orangetheory in person or over the phone. You will still need to pay for a month of membership if you cancel your membership at the start of a new billing cycle. Cancel your Orangetheory membership before the next billing cycle begins to avoid paying for another month.

How to Cancel Orangetheory Membership in Person
Visit your home studio and tell them that you’d like to cancel your membership. The associate will ask why and will likely follow up with offers and alternatives to retain you as a member.
Stay firm if you’re truly intent on discontinuing the membership. If they are pushy, simply tell them “I just don’t want it anymore” to put the kibosh on the negotiation.
The staff will provide a cancellation form to complete with all the details of your cancellation. Also, ask for a copy of the completed form prior to leaving. This will serve as your record of the transaction just in case you need it later.
Be sure to inquire when your cancellation officially goes into effect. You are required to provide a 30-days cancellation notice per the membership agreement. Unfortunately, you will likely wind up paying at least one more bill after the cancellation is requested.
How to Cancel Orangetheory Membership via Phone
Maybe you moved away, took a new job away from the studio, or just simply don’t want to have a face-to-face conversation about things. Canceling by phone is an option in these scenarios.
To cancel by phone:
- Get your membership information. This may include your name, age, address, contact number, email address, membership ID number, and/or the last 4 digits of your credit card used for the membership.
- Find your home studio’s phone number.
- Call your studio and tell them you’d like to cancel.
- Answer their questions and follow their instructions until they finish processing and confirm your membership has been successfully canceled.
- Ask for an email acknowledgment to serve as a record of the transaction.
Because Orangetheory is a franchise operation, Orangetheory Corporate prefers that all local business is handled locally. However, if the staff is unhelpful or unwilling, you may reach Orangetheory Customer Service at (954) 530-6903.
How to Cancel Orangetheory Membership via Email
Orangetheory officially states that email cancellations cannot and will not be processed.
However, some individuals have claimed online that they successfully quit via email. Your home studio may allow it depending on their own policies.
Email is excellent because it creates a documented paper trail in the event of any confusion or error on their part. This documentation is invaluable in the event if subsequent charges must be refuted for any reason.
You will need to have your membership details handy, as well as the email address for your home studio. Some franchise operators post this on their personal sites, whereas you may have to call the studio and ask. We recommend an initial email asking if an email cancellation is acceptable before blasting your personal information out there.
Once your studio confirms that they are willing to accept an email cancellation request, you may proceed at your own discretion.
How to Cancel Orangetheory on the App
As a member of Orangetheory, you are given a profile for the Orangetheory app. The app syncs with your membership, tracks your workout metrics, and offers insight on how to best meet your goals.
In addition, you can stream and participate in live classes from anywhere by using the app on your phone.
Unfortunately, you cannot cancel your Orangetheory membership using the app.
You can select to discontinue your subscription to the app, but you will still be required to contact the studio directly to process a cancellation.
Does Orangetheory Have a Cancellation Fee?
Orangetheory does not have a cancellation fee.
The terms of the membership agreement state that 30-day notice is required, however, and you will be billed for 30 days following your notice of cancellation.
For example, if your membership renews on the 1st of each month and you cancel on the 30th of the month prior, you will pay again on the 1st for the next month. Even if you cancel on the 2nd, you will end up paying the next membership fees on the 1st since it will still be within 30 days.
What is a “Late Cancel” for Orangetheory?
Orangetheory requires at least 8 hours’ notice of cancellation prior to the start of class to guarantee class capacity is not exceeded. Failure to do so will result in a fee of approximately $12.
Orangetheory Refund Policy
For longtime members, there are no refunds, and you are subject to renewal fees through 30 days of your cancellation.
For new Premier members, Orangetheory offers a 30-day money back guarantee.
If any new customer attends 12 classes and they are dissatisfied for any reason, they are entitled to a refund of all initial monthly dues. That is, provided it is within 30 days of the initial signing date.
This alleviates the pressure of joining a new gym and gives new members a risk-free method of sampling the workout.
Orangetheory Membership Cost
Orangetheory offers memberships that allot a maximum number of classes per month and bills automatically each month, or packages of classes that do not renew once used.
The class package options are great because there is no commitment required. However, you will get a better rate per class and overall better value from signing up for a standard membership that bills monthly.
Membership Name | What You Get | Price |
---|---|---|
Premier | Unlimited classes Reduced rate for family | $159 |
Elite | 8 classes/month | $99 |
Basic | 4 classes/month | $59 |
30 Class Package | 30 classes | $499 |
20 Class Package | 20 classes | $359 |
10 Class Package | 10 classes | $199 |
1 Class | 1 Class | $28 |
Please note that Elite and Basic members are entitled to reduced rates for extra classes, and rates may vary depending on your location.
Orangetheory also requires use of a heart-rate monitor. You may use your own if you already have one, but it will not sync with their system and provide the same level of data. To rent an Orangetheory heart-rate monitor, it will cost approximately $5 to $10. To purchase, it will cost approximately $69 to $129. Orangetheory has 4 different kinds available, each with different pros and cons.
Are Orangetheory Classes Worth It?
The answer to this question is completely subjective, but we think so!
Here’s why:
- They use zone training. This approach keeps your heart rate in the right zone for fat burning and performance building with less risk of injury or exhaustion from overtraining.
- They use interval training. Orangetheory uses interval training and juxtaposes intense bouts of exercise with active recovery, maximizing the efficiency of the overall workout.
- Classes are motivating. It’s easy to bargain when it’s only you at the gym or at home. Being in class is a commitment, which helps you maintain motivation to show up and give it your best.
Can You Use Your Orangetheory Membership at any Location?
Yes, Orangetheory allows you to visit any location in the country where your membership was purchased. The only restriction is that your Orangetheory app syncs only with your home studio, so you cannot book classes at other gyms using the app.
Orangetheory No Show Policy
Like the “late cancel” fee, failing to show altogether will result in a fee.
The Orangetheory no show fee is $12 on average, though this may vary.
How Do I Contact Orangetheory Corporate?
You can reach Orangetheory Corporate at (954) 530-6903.
You may reach out if you’ve hit a complete dead end at your local studio and ask that they assist. However, they generally prefer all local business be handled by the local franchise owner.
